Mike was INCREDIBLE! From the first conversation we had before the wedding, he was supportive and willing to work with us to help make the wedding everything we ever dreamed of. Working with Mass Bay DJ was the absolute best choice we could have made for our wedding! They came highly recommended by our wedding venue and it was evident why from the first phone call we had with Mike . Talking with Mike from the start, he put any and all our concerns at ease. MULTIPLE guests of ours were yelling at us while dancing, “This DJ is awesome!” Another guest said “Man, this guy really knows how to read a room,” and my husband and I fully agree. Beyond keeping us dancing all night long, he was also very detail-oriented during the planning stages, asking a lot of questions to make sure that the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and special dances, all happened according to how we desired. DJ Mike was absolutely incredible! We had heard great things about him from our family members, but he exceeded all of our expectations!! He was so easy to work with, was a great communicator, has a simple form on his website to fill out with all wedding info, and brought such high energy to our event! We also added a cellist a few months before, and Mike worked seamlessly with him, even providing additional gear for the ceremony so the cellist could have two set ups for quicker transitions. After our first phone call with Mike, the decision felt easy. After our wedding was over, it was obvious that our decision was right. We got married at the River Club on August 30th, and MassBay DJ was recommended to us by the venue. Mike has an awesome energy that not only made the night as hyped up as it was, but also made us feel throughout the planning process that it was his main priority to make sure that our day was the best it could possibly be. Before the wedding, Mike walked us through moment by moment what the day would look like and made sure that every aspect of our day was accounted for so we felt confident going into the day. On the day of, the vibe we were going for was perfectly captured; our guests were on the dance floor before dinner was even over. The music at a wedding really has the power to make or break the party, and over and over again we got compliments on the music (which was also complemented by the number of people on the dance floor at all times). The team at Mass Bay DJ were so great! As a more anxious bride, they were organized and confident but at the same time very laid back which put me at ease. During the event, I did not have to think at all about Jacob or Craig because I knew they had it covered. We had 2 live singers for 2 of our dances (family of ours) and they helped them with their background music and mics and it all went smoothly. I would highly recommend them and now wish I could think of more events I need DJs at!

Mike, the owner of Mass Bay DJ, was phenomenal! He brought our vision to life and made sure every playlist was played perfectly. During the dances, he even let us know to give him a look if we wanted to cut the music, making sure we were always comfortable. Everybody was dancing all night long! I’ll start this review by saying that I’ve been to a Mass Bay DJ wedding before (and am so pumped to be going to another one next year!), so I already knew that we were in store for an absolute party.

Mike had never been to our venue before, so he arrived early to plan the layout and electrical setups for our outdoor and indoor spaces. Our venue is strict with vendor dress, and Mike came dressed to impress like we knew he would. Already off to a great start.

We told Mike that he could take liberties during cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, but the one area I was very particular about was what music would play when our guests walked in. Mike respected these wishes and played those songs specifically, and the sound quality in our huge outdoor space projected PERFECTLY. His timing during the ceremony was impeccable. Between Mike’s timing and the crisp sound quality of the processional music, walking down the aisle honestly felt magical.

Like I mentioned above, we knew Mike was going to be an all-star DJ before the night began. What was a pleasant surprise (but also not a surprise given how accommodating and all-around incredible Mike is) was how quickly Mike was able to roll with the punches. Probably an hour before the time for cake-cutting, I last-minute asked him to play ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter for the cake-cutting (our cake was chocolate espresso flavored!) and on the fly, Mike was on it.

Mike was open to suggestions from some of the guests of honor (ranging from when my grandmother requested ‘Unchained Melody’ to when my cousin-in-law requested ‘The Spins’ by Mac Miller). And at the same time, he respected our do-not-play list! (Thank you for not playing Sweet Caroline, Mike! LOL.) He made sure to play music that reflected the masses, including a few emo bangers per my request. :)

Here’s where Mike saved the night: We had an after party from 11pm to 2am directly on-site and we wanted to make sure the guests’ energy stayed high so people would be down to party the night away. Originally, our last song was a slower paced song, but when he saw how vibrant the dance floor was still at 10:30, he came up to me and asked what I thought about the idea of changing the last song to make it more upbeat so people wouldn’t lose steam. I consulted with my husband and we both loved that idea, so Mr. Brightside became our last song of the night. 10/10 idea!

Mike’s presenting skills, from introducing us for the first time to providing a hilarious set-up for my father-in-law’s entrance for the choreographed dance he surprised us with, are unmatched. He’s seriously such an incredible hype man. He even let me DJ at one point! (I was terrible, LOL!)

If you want your wedding dance floor to be full to the brim most of the night and want an incredible spectacle of lights and sound, hire Mass Bay DJ for your next event. This team does NOT disappoint, and they’re here to get the party going!

On a more personal note, we’ve been friends of Mike’s for nearly a decade now and watching his business grow to the success it’s at today has been incredible. He’s seriously one of the most deserving, hard-working people we know and takes so much pride in everything he’s involved in.

Mike was incredible! We found Mike by suggestion of our wedding coordinator at the Red Lion and she could not have been more spot on with her recommendation; not only did Mike take the time to understand our musical tastes, he also kept the party flowing and the guests dancing right up til the end of the afterparty. The Boston vs. New York music that he engineered was one of the highlights and kept everyone out on the dance floor during the entire party. It truly was a party because of Mike and the way he put together the music for the event. We’ve received multiple phone calls from family and friends in the weeks after our wedding reliving the reception and after party, talking about the music, the delivery and coordination, and telling us that it was the funnest wedding they’ve ever been to – not an exaggeration with Mike leading the music!

I also want to emphasize how low stress Mike is – having a vendor that is able to self-manage and deliver extraordinarily was huge especially as the wedding date got closer. I really appreciated his attitude, humor, and would emphatically recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ for their next event!

He also MC’d for some of our games and explained to the guests a wedding tradition that we requested. One of my groomsman was a DJ and also applauded the performance. We were incredibly pleased with working with Mike and his team. We were super impressed/pleased at how quick his email response time was as well as how flexible he was in working with us and providing/receiving feedback. When we started planning our wedding we knew right away we needed Mike as our DJ. We got married up in Jackson, NH which was a long ride for Mike and Craig to do, but they came up gladly. Mike and Mass Bay DJ was one of the first vendors we booked for our December 2022 wedding and we couldn’t be more pleased with our decision! From our very first conversation, we could tell that Mike was hardworking and goes above and beyond to make sure couples are happy and satisfied. Mass Bay DJ is a MUST book. Mike DJ’d our wedding and handled the entire process seamlessly – from initial outreach, to booking, to planning and the wedding itself everything was exceptional. Leading up to the wedding I was completely confident that we made the right decision and that was more than confirmed afterward. We especially appreciated Mike handling our not so traditional wedding ceremony during cocktail hour – something that had never been done at the venue before and Mike rose to the occasion and set-up and audio sounded perfect. We had a great experience working with Mike. He was organized and responsive, and made the planning process very easy. He made sure that he understood what we were looking for, but was also able to offer really helpful feedback on the overall timeline of the night. On the day of the wedding, he did a great job keeping the event flowing, from cocktail hour to the speeches to the dance floor. When we decided to have a small wedding in a small venue, we kept going back and forth about whether we needed a DJ. We weren’t sure whether our guests would want to dance… or even if we had enough space for a dance floor! The other testimonials on Mike’s website won us over and and I can truthfully say that working with Mike was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Not only did he get everyone dancing, but he read the room with incredible skill and knew just when to transition from gentle reception music into fun dance hits. All of our guests told us how much they loved him.

Mike was so friendly, communicative, and helpful throughout the wedding planning process and even switched a few things up on the wedding day when requested. He provided thoughtful recommendations for which different types of mics to use during the ceremony and worked seamlessly with our venue coordinator and officiant to help create the perfect wedding. Even before the wedding, he worked carefully with us to ensure that all of the cues would be right for a same-sex couple and altered the traditional “bride and groom” script to work for us. We cannot recommend him enough!!

Mike was the best decision we made when it came to planning our wedding! I reached out very far in advance to book him for our wedding date and he was always so sweet and answered all of my questions leading up to the date, all while reassuring me we still had plenty of time if anything changed! He blew us away with with his down to earth nature and willingness to truly work with us for the vibe we were looking for. Mike was phenomenal. We hired him for our September 2018 wedding. The music was great from the cocktail hour, to dinner, and reception. Mike played a wide variety of genres for us for our young and older guests alike. His planning form is easy to follow and super helpful. I think the best part of Mike’s skill set is his personality! He is such a genuinely nice person and it comes across on the mic which he wasn’t on too much or too little. He was so efficient during the planning process and never left you hanging because every single response was very prompt which was a huge relief when you are dealing with a lot of vendors!

We loved him so much that we convinced him to have a beer with us after the wedding. :) HIs prices are extremely reasonable and I would no doubt hire him again and also highly recommend him. *Upgrade and get the lighting, you won’t regret it!

Not only did Mike make the wedding planning process easier for us, but he really came through when it was time to shine! Planning during the pandemic presented its challenges, but Mike was so wonderful to work with and extremely helpful with suggestions or recommendations. Mike at Mass Bay DJ was absolutely amazing! From the moment I reached out to him to inquire about his services, I could tell he was extremely professional and detail oriented. He was very responsive and answered all my questions very promptly. I had to postpone my wedding twice due to COVID and my original DJ could not do the first date. When I was in search for a new DJ I was a bit nervous, but as soon as I was in touch with Mike I knew I was in great hands!

Mike at Mass Bay DJ could not have been better. Our wedding was at Hammond Castle in Gloucester which has a unique set up. He was able to hook up his equipment indoor for the ceremony, and through the indoor courtyard during the cocktail hour, then seamlessly transition to the outdoor reception under the tent.

One of the most memorable things for me when working with Mike was planning the ceremony music when I was walking down the aisle. I wanted a very specific part of the song to play as I was walking down the aisle, and knew it would not sound right if it wasn’t timed properly. When I shared the song with him, he told me not to worry and that he would take care of it. The timing was PERFECT. When I watched the ceremony video back, my specific music selections and timing were just right. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s the details like that which make the day perfect.

The DJ for a wedding is such an important piece of the day. When working with Mike, I felt really at ease. I wasn’t sure exactly what music I wanted, and he was so accommodating. He was willing to be as involved in music selection and MC-ing as we wanted. Other than a few formal announcements (cake cutting, first dance etc) we didn’t want too much MC-ing. The song selections were perfect throughout the entire day, and our guests loved it. The dance floor was full all night.

My wedding day was absolutely perfect, and Mike at Mass Bay DJ was such a big piece of that. Our day would not have gone as smoothly as it did if it wasn’t for Mike. Thank you!!

Mike had the dance floor full all night! Besides putting together a great experience for everyone at the wedding, Mike was attentive, calming, and open to all of our ideas in the time leading up to the event. Would definitely recommend!

This time last year, we were finding it very difficult to select a DJ. Brett being a musician himself, and me loving to dance, it was hard to find someone who we did not have to micromanage and could trust to keep the dance floor full! We spoke to MANY DJs, and I mean almost a dozen. Some were too flashy and wanted to emcee the entire thing, and some didn’t want to speak at all. At a wedding?!? Our thoughts exactly. Just before we were about to sign a contract with another DJ, we decided to look at the RLI’s recommended vendor list, and found Mike. He responded to us IMMEDIATELY and we set up a call. Within ten minutes of speaking with him, I felt confident that he knew exactly how to field the aunt that requests a bunch of songs while also keeping the party going. He was knowledgeable, easy to speak to, and truly cared about the company-client relationship. Over the course of the year, we spoke to Mike a couple times with random questions, thoughts, etc. and he always offered an honest opinion. I will never forget that when I asked him how he handles a million song requests, he said ‘Your guests are all paying to be there too and want to enjoy themselves, so I’m happy to use my judgement on what to play and when’. It was exactly what we were looking for in a professional DJ, and we didn’t even know it. We wanted the music to be good, and for our guests to feel like they were just as much a part of our special day as we were.

He’s also there to help you keep all of your surprises. As mentioned, my husband is a musician and wanted to surprise me with singing a song and playing guitar. Mike worked closely with Brett to plan for, keep, and make the surprise happen! It was by far my favorite part of the wedding.

Mike is an awesome DJ. Our friends and family were on the dance floor all night-he knew the songs to play to get everyone on their feet and dancing, and he played just the right music during downtime of eating etc. We had a long list of songs we wanted played, and I’m pretty sure every one of them got played at some point throughout the night. We even wanted one special song that he hadn’t heard of (requested in the middle of the reception), and low and behold a few minutes later it started playing. Mike traveled up to Portland, ME for our wedding for a very fair travel charge, included ceremony microphones and speakers for us which was a huge help! He was super responsive with any questions we had, especially the weeks leading up to the wedding. Would hire him again in a heartbeat-definitely a great DJ with a lot of wedding experience-you can’t go wrong with him, he will make your party the best! Thanks Mike!

Choosing a DJ was way out of my comfort zone, but Mike DJ’d a wedding for friends of mine and everyone was talking about what an incredible time they had. That was enough of a recommendation for me, and I’m SO glad we booked Mike! He met with me in person which helped put me at ease. Mike D, is an amazing DJ. We used him for our wedding and not only was he easy to work with, he was open minded and ultra prepared. We used a form that he provided to organize our event, and request music…everything went without a hitch. Mike played what we indicated were “Must Plays” and used our list to create an eclectic mix that my wife and I loved as did everyone else that attended! It was a dance party for all ages! In addition to setting the tone of the reception and delivering on our expectations, Mike D saved the ceremony! We arrived at the public park to find that there was no working power outlets. Knowing the area, Mike was quick to troubleshoot, ran to the store and purchased an inverter to rig up to an automobile so that we could proceed with music…. phenomenal.
